ACALETICS®
assessments are designed to:
• provide information to facilitate teacher
planning
• confirm student mastery
• prepare students for high-stakes testing,
including endurance and pacing.
ACALETICS®
assessments should never be used punitively. We do
NOT recommend that our assessments be used for grading
purposes.
The
main purpose of our assessments is to provide information
that serves to link assessments with instruction.
The
following descriptions give an overview of each type
of assessment, including the main purpose, average
score ranges, and alignment with standards.
I.
PRE/POST ASSESSMENT
Purpose:
This assessment is divided into 3 sections: Application,
Computation, and Concepts. It is designed to measure
student mastery of foundation skills. The results
of the Pretest Assessment are used as a basis for:
• placement of students in appropriate performance
level groups,
• determination of effective class-sizing recommendations
for Student Performance Based Groups (SPBGs), and
• customization of the textbook Scope and Sequence
by grade level.
Average
Score Range: Pretest: 33%-50%
Posttest: 60%-80%
Standards:
This assessment is aligned with the State Standards
and national standardized tests such as the SAT9,
CAT5, CTBS, and TerraNova.
II.
COMPREHENSIVE PRE/POST ASSESSMENT
Purpose:
The results of this criterion-referenced assessment
are used as a basis for determining student mastery
of Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) and are the foundation
for teacher planning.
Average
Score Range: Pretest: 30%-40%
Posttest: 60%-70%
Standards:
This assessment is aligned with State Standards and
national standardized tests such as the SAT9, CAT5,
CTBS, and TerraNova.
III.
COMPREHENSIVE MIDTERM ASSESSMENT
Purpose:
The results of this criterion-referenced assessment
are used as a basis for determining student mastery
of Grade level Expectations (GLEs) and are used to
redirect instruction.
Average
Score Range: 40%-60%
Standards:
This assessment is aligned with State Standards and
national standardized tests such as the SAT9, CAT5,
CTBS, and TerraNova.

students and are all aligned with State Standards,
and national standardized tests such as the SAT9,
CAT5, CTBS, and TerraNova.
IV.
QUIK•PIKS
Purpose:
These booklets offer a “quik” way to “pik”
a variety of math problems designed to preview, review and
reinforce the math concepts and skills of the NCTM, State Standards,
Benchmarks, and Grade Level Expectations. These problems
can be used everyday as part of Math Club, classwork,
and homework.
Design:
Each page contains 5 problems. Each problem on each
page corresponds to a Math Strand of State Standards.

V.
QUIK•PIKS (Science)
Purpose:
These booklets offer a “quik” way to “pik”
a variety of science problems designed to preview, review and
reinforce the science concepts and skills of the State Standards,
Benchmarks, and Grade Level Expectations. These problems
can be used everyday as part of your curriculum, classwork,
and homework. Problems on each page correspond to the essential strands of the state standards.
Design:
Each page contains 4 problems. Each problem on each
page corresponds to a Science Strand of State Standards. Every two pages will expose the students to a representative problem from each one of the eight assessed science strands.
VI.
COMPREHENSIVE PREP
Purpose: These booklets were developed to be utilized
primarily during student “down time” such
as the Winter Break. They include a variety of math
problems designed to review and reinforce the math
concepts and skills of State Standards, Benchmarks,
and Grade Level Expectations. They can also be used
for class work and homework.
Design:
Each booklet is divided into 5 sections. Each section
covers one of the Math Strands of State Standards.
Depending upon the grade level, the math problems
include multiple choice, gridded response, and extended
response formats.
